Swing Teaching Aids Of The Pros
Many golfers think that the pros would never use golf swing
teaching aids, but in fact they do, all the time.
The first teaching aid that they use is called their coach!
Of course most of us have not got the money to fork out on a
personal golf coach, but the point is that the top coaches will
use aids to help them work on a swing with the player. However,
they will not try every new gadget that comes out. They will
look for particular aids that could help the individual player
with his game.
Some aids work better than others, and some are gadgets
which are probably no better than toys. However, if you do some
homework, you'll find tools to help you improve your swing.
There are some things you need to look out for. The first
consideration is not to buy every new aid that crosses your
path. Think about whether the previous one was put to full use,
whether you actually saw the process through, because if you
didn't with the last one, the chances are that you may not get
full use out of a new one either.
The main aim with a swing aid is to help transfer your
knowledge into practice. If you have taken the first step to
improvement, which is to read books on the subject or study
instructional videos or DVDs, you'll probably be able to reel
off the tuition basics yourself. The problem is transferring
these ideas from your brain to what your body does in practice,
when a lot of the crucial action goes on out of your
vision.
So whatever aids you use, the most important thing that you
need to improve your swing will be something that allows you to
see what you are doing. This could be as simple as a mirror,
but keep in mind that moving your head to look in the mirror
can make a difference to your posture.
If you have the opportunity to use video equipment in the
practice area of your local course, that is ideal. Another
possibility is taking a computer fitted with a webcam along
with you, or having a friend or family member follow you around
with a video camera.
So the first and most popular swing aid is some kind of
video analysis. You can learn a huge amount just from watching
your swing on video. After that, you can try out the various
physical swing aids such as a stance alignment training aid,
elbow brace, arm restraint etc in combination with the video to
see how they improve your swing.
So to sum up, you do not need to be a pro to use golf swing
aids, but you do need something that lets you see your swing
and the effects of whatever aids you are using. You also want
to choose golf swing teaching aids that you can feasibly see
through to the end of any training given.
